All You Need to Know for Back to School 2024

Dear MASD Families:

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer. While you still have a few weeks to enjoy your summer break, we’re busy preparing for the upcoming school year. I have included some information below that I hope you will find helpful.

First Day of School

We’re excited to welcome our students back to school! The first day of school for students is August 21.

Teacher Assignments and Schedules

Teacher assignments and schedules will be available in Skyward on Monday, August 5th at 3 pm.

Click here to login to Skyward.

Click here for more information about Skyward.

Prior to viewing your students schedule or teacher assignment, you will be promoted to complete any necessary forms for the upcoming school year. Please take the time to review the information and complete any necessary forms for your student.

Student Handbooks

The student handbooks are available on our website. Please take a moment to review the handbooks prior to the start of school. The student handbook is one of the documents you will need to sign off on before you can view your student’s schedule or teacher assignment.

Lunch Menu & Free/Reduced Meal Information

The lunch menu for every school will be available online. Menu items will be posted closer to the start of school. Click here to find the online menus.

Food Service Information

All schools participating in the School Breakfast Program will provide free breakfast for all enrolled students during the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, students identified as eligible for reduced-price lunches through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) will not be charged for their meals.

The free/reduced meals application is open for the 2024-2025 school year. If you intend to apply for free/reduced meals, please do so as soon as possible. It can take time for your family’s application to be processed. Click here for more information about free/reduced meals.

All students who attend Hyde Elementary School will receive free breakfast and free lunch. Hyde students do not need to fill out a free/reduced meal application because the school is part of the Community Eligibility Program.

Technology Fee & Device Distribution

All district devices (K-12) will be distributed in school. Students do not need to attend a separate pick-up date this year.

High School students have a $50 technology fee, which can be paid through the Skyward Parent Portal. High school students who qualify for free/reduced meals will have their technology fee waived.

Students in grades K-8 do not have a required technology fee, however they can purchase optional device protection for $30. If a family selects the device protection plan, they can pay this fee through the Skyward Parent Portal.

Transportation

We are working hard to finalize our bus routes. Although families already have access to this information in Skyward, please note that the routes may change before the first day of school. It is essential that you check your bus information on August 20 to ensure you are prepared with the most up-to-date information on the first day of school.

Please be patient during the first week or two of school while our drivers and families familiarize themselves with the routes and make any necessary adjustments. Buses may run a bit behind schedule; however, please be at your bus stop 10 minutes prior to your child’s noted pick up time.
